Meet LARK’s Secretary
By Suzana Sukovic
In November, LARK reflected on the year almost behind us and the year ahead, and our Committee members considered their roles. Mary Anne Kennan has decided to step down from her role as Co-Convenor while remaining engaged with LARK as a Committee member. I am grateful to Mary Anne for supporting LARK and sharing this leadership role with me in 2025.
Georgia Stewart, who joined us at the beginning of the year, has stepped up and taken on the role of LARK’s Secretary. LARK is delighted to see new members volunteering for official roles in our group. We asked Georgia a few questions to introduce her as our new Secretary.
Please tell us about yourself.
I grew up in Sydney and lived there for the first 30 years of my life, then moved to be with my retired parents in Mudgee, NSW. Over the course of my working career, I have worked in the banking, nursing, teaching, and library industries. The latter has been the most enjoyable of my previous employment, as I can help people match their interests with appropriate reading material. I love being able to search out an answer to a problem, as I research and locate information related to the enquiry. I am currently working as a library assistant in the local public library in Mudgee, where I assist with operating the Mobile Library and fill in at other branches within the Mid-Western Regional Council libraries.
What drew you to become involved in LARK and take on the role of Secretary?
I was drawn to LARK through an advertisement in the ALIA newsletter about this library research group and the fact that they were looking for new members. Even though I have only worked in the Public Library sector for a couple of years, I thought I would apply in the hope that they might be interested in a person who has an interest in all things research, but has little experience in the field.
The position of Secretary spoke to me as it is a vital role within the team, as the secretary helps to keep everyone informed of past and future meetings. I am looking forward to fulfilling this role, as I have skills in administration.

I look forward to working closely with Georgia. Everyone at LARK welcomes our colleagues who want to join us and find their way to engage with us.
