ALIA LARK is delighted to announce its first webinar for 2025 on the theme of Connections and Collaborations in Public Libraries. We invite librarians, particularly public librarians, colleagues who work in roles liaising with public librarians, educators, students, and anyone else interested in research about the amazing programs that can be offered by public libraries to join a webinar which will report two research programs focussing connections and collaborations in public libraries.

First, we shall hear from Dr Kay Oddone who will report on work she and colleagues have conducted about how school and public libraries might leverage their complementary strengths to benefit both students and the community. The title of her presentation will be “Essential Connections: Enhancing Collaboration between School and Public Libraries in Australia”.

Kay will be followed by Dr Jane Garner talking about her research on how libraries are collaborating with external organisations to better serve people experiencing homelessness and poverty, and the challenges and opportunities such collaborations bring. Her topic is: Supporting Vulnerable Library Users: Partnerships and Service Provision.

The webinar will be held via Zoom on Wednesday 9 April from 1-2pm, Australian Eastern Standard Time. It is the week after daylight savings finishes in the states that have it, so please check the date in your own time zone.

Attendees will leave this presentation inspired about potential opportunities for collaborations and research in public libraries
Please register on the ALIA website. Registration is free for ALIA Members and will be at a cost of $22.00 for non-ALIA members. Registration is required for the Zoom link and will be accepted up until midday on Monday 07 April
